I think 'complexity' is often used as an oratorical or 'debate' tactic to distract away from fundamental root causes, and drag conversations into the weeds of historical minutia that is often irrelevant or incidental to the underlying injustice.

The logistics and economics of cotton production and the transportation of enslaved labor across the Atlantic I'm sure involved a great deal of complexity. The politics of the US in the 1800s was nothing short of complex. But, the truth of the injustice of slavery is very simple.

Zionists wanted to establish an independent country based on religious identity on contested land that existing inhabitants were forcefully removed from and forbidden from returning to. This has created a intractable refugee crisis, and endless violence. Fact.
