This David B Morris character is an amusing example of the US/Western 'intellectual' tradition which you mention, and its arrogance, ignorance and fragility. And yes, I guarantee he's never read a word of Engels.

I replied to one of his comments on yours about being 'leftist', pointing out that Israel (and Zionism) has also been influenced by 'leftist' thought and ideology - particularly the Kibbutz. Some Zionists attempt to appeal to socialists/communists by holding these up as model communist communities.

I mentioned that while these are indeed interesting examples of utopian socialism, they are a far cry from what Marx/Engels advocated for due to being formed along ethno-religious lines that cut across working class unity.

Engles writes about this phenomenon in "Socialism: Utopian and Scientific". Lenin is also quite critical of Zionism and the quest to form a Jewish state along ethnic/religious lines, because it is divisive to the working class and promotes isolation rather than 'fusion'.

Apparently, this triggered him. He responded with a rant about utopias (among other things), clearly missing the point that Zionism itself is a failing utopian project of sorts - exactly the kind Marx/Engels/Lenin were opposed to:

Of course, no can see any of this exchange now, because he insta-blocked me right after responding, which is quite comical since it removes his response along with mine from public view. It also hides it from me.

I was able to extract the excerpt above from the Email I received with the response he fired off right before blocking me. I'm not sure if this is an intentional troll tactic or what, but it is quite juvenile and amusing.

He also mentions the glories of free speech and the tyranny of authoritarian regimes in the thread he censored from public view.

I guess no one will really know what actually triggered him, because the 'free speech' and Western 'freedom' advocate has removed the 'free speech' from public record. It's clear that - like many Americans - he has a very limited knowledge of what he rants about in regards to 'leftists' or Engels, proving Buffy's point.
