The war is likely to fail in most of these objectives and further destabilize the region, as the Americans proved. 'Terrorism' is not something that can be defeated merely with military action without addressing the root causes of it.

The war has been detrimental to 'resolving' the hostage 'issue'. How many of them have been killed by their captors or accidentally by the IDF? How many have been released through negotiations?

105 were released in a prisoner exchange deal.

8 have been rescued by the IDF. Which approach is more effective at releasing hostages?

Yet Netenyahu chooses to pursue further war, angering the families of the hostages who realize their loved ones are being sacrificed to justify an ill-advised war for political reasons. Netenyahu is using his people as pawns just as Hamas.

If Israel had properly responded to the warnings being issued by the border guards, Oct. 7 may have been prevented in the first place. Perhaps it would be more effective to root out incompetence and corruption within Israel and hold those that failed in their duties accountable, rather than lashing out at the Palestinian people to save face for Israeli failures.
