As an American, I'll be the first to acknowledge that US has an appalling history when it comes to genocide, slavery, and other crimes against humanity. It is also complicit in supporting the crimes of Israel, and countless other tyrannical regimes around the world in support of its 'interests'. That is precisely the reason to protest these things as an American, especially since our tax dollars are funding it.
Acknowledging that there is a problem is the first step to addressing it. What you're advocating for is the opposite: that everyone should just shut up and not worry about current injustices because they also happened in the past.
"Would it be warranted for them to infiltrate your home and rape and torture and kidnap and ultimately murder you and your family?"
Many indigenous people did attack colonizers throughout the history of settlement in the US. They even won battles against the US (i.e. the defeat of General Custer at Little Big Horn). Many slaves rose up and brutally murdered their plantation owners and their families too. That doesn't make slavery, colonization, or genocide right.
The fact that the US is responsible for these appalling things is exactly the reason why we MUST speak out against them!
